An Introduction to the Cosmology of Nepali Shamanism
with Maria Pertile, graduate of 19-day Shamanism Course with the Rai Family in New Naikap & Photeng, Nepal, CSHP, RYT200
Nepal is a country rich in sound, spirit and healing in ways that are ancient, yet timeless in their application. The Nepali Shaman comes into his/her own healing gifts through a series of events that are awe-inspiring in nature and is able to assist those in need through rituals and practices that are deeply rooted in tradition. Join Maria Pertile as she shares what she learned about the cosmology of the Nepali Shamanism and learn how to enhance your current sound therapy practice with tools, rituals and traditions associated with this work.
Participants will learn:
• The cosmology of Nepali Shamanism
• Tools used in traditional Nepali shamanic work
• About the shaman drum including beginner rhythms as used to “invite spirit” into a healing session
• Activation of your mala for protection, prosperity and insight
• How to connect with nature on a variety of levels for communication and insight
• Protocols to use in your sound healing practice using shamanistic tools and rituals
• Practices for self-care and for use in sound healing sessions as well
Cost: $486 for Nepali Shamanism workshop only or $882 for both continuing education workshops: Intro to Nepali Shamanism and Embodied Gong Techniques (both workshops include support materials and lunch)
About Maria Pertile:
Maria Pertile is a sound healing practitioner, teacher of the Atma Buti® method and member of the Serenity Tibet Warehouse team. Since her introduction to the Himalayan singing bowls in 2014, sound and vibration have guided her journey in ways she never could have imagined. Having taught pilates, yoga and movement based therapies for nearly 20 years, the Himalayan singing bowls resonated into her world as she transitioned many of her clients to sound therapy as a complimentary modality where she has seen amazing success stories again and again!
During her first visit to Nepal, Maria experienced firsthand a spirit “inhabiting her body”. While she did not understand the spiritual connection at the time, one year later she was guided by mentor Ellen Winner, author and shamanistic practitioner, to return to Nepal to learn about shamanic practices with the Rai family. It was during this time that she experienced the cosmology of Nepali Shamanism firsthand in the classroom and in nature (yes – including nights in the graveyard to connect with spirit) in Nepal.
Maria is grateful for the time she has been gifted with Suren & Ruby Shrestha (gifted healers by nature) and the time she spent with Subin Rai (son of Mohan Rai), and his family in New Naikap & Photeng, Nepal. She is eager to share what knowledge she has learned and how the cosmology of Nepali Shamanism can enhance your current sound healing practitioner work.
